ABOUT THE ORCHARD
____
The Bloomington Community Orchard is an all-volunteer nonprofit (501c3), devoted to growing fruit trees and other perennial edible agriculture for the community to enjoy, while growing our orcharding skills through education and experience-sharing. The publicly owned orchard is maintained by volunteers, and the harvest is available to everyone.

Planting for the Future
This week we visit the Bloomington Community Orchard for the planting of a nut grove. Josephine Mc Robbie has a story about a pop-up taco and tamale shop, Harvest Public Media tells us what’s at stake in the glyphosate debate, and Chef D has a fresh idea for strawberries and rhubarb.
Roots of Community Orchard Spread Across Town
Across the road from the south-side YMCA, peaches move from green to yellow. Soon, they’ll take on that orange ombré and, at peak ripeness, will seem to fall into our hands, relieved to be picked.
Fruit trees planted at IU in partnership with Bloomington Community Orchard
Fruit trees planted on the east side of the IU Bloomington campus mark the start of a partnership by Indiana University and the Bloomington Community Orchard in a project to grow food and produce environmental benefits.
